IMPORT EXPORT LICENSE REGISTRATION
An import export code is required for every import/export business owner in India. This code is issued by the Director-General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce. IEC is required for importers to clear customs and shipment, and to transfer money to foreign banks. Likewise, exporters require IEC to send shipments and receive money from foreign banks. If an exporter wants to send his shipments abroad, IE code is required by the customs port. Whenever an exporter receives money in the form of foreign currency directly into his bank account, then IE code is required by the bank. For obtaining Food Licensing and APEDA Licensing, Import Export Code is mandatory. Briefly, no importer/exporter can operate in India without getting Import Export Code.
